Physical characteristics

The RAGDOLL is a large cat with a powerless and developed musculature
An adult male can weigh from 6-9 kilos, while females around 4-7 kilos. .
  • HEAD:
The head is large, triangular, wedge-shaped and with rounded contours.
The skull is flat between the ears.
The forehead is slightly rounded. The cheeks are quite developed.
The nose is of medium length with a slight stop in the upper third at eye level.
The muzzle is quite long and rounded. The chin is pronounced and well developed.
  • EARS:
The ears extend the outline of the head, are of medium size, broad at the base, well spaced, with rounded tips, carried slightly forward and rich in hair.
  • NECK:
The neck is short, strong and muscular.
  • EYES:
The eyes are large, oval, slightly oblique; the outer edge of the eye must be level with the base of the ear. The more or less intense blue color.
  • BODY:
The body is large, long, with imposing bone, broad chest, shoulders and pelvis of the same width and very developed musculature.
  • LEGS:
The legs are of medium length, the hind legs are slightly longer than the front ones, they have a good musculature. The feet are large, round and compact; have tufts of hair between the fingers.
  • TAIL:
The tail is long and well proportioned to the body, thick at the base, tapering towards the tip. Covered with thick hair, it is carried slightly higher than the level of the back.
  • CAPE:
The coat is semi-long, dense, silky, soft and close to the body.
When the Ragdoll walks and moves the hair opens in locks. The hair is shorter on the muzzle and on the legs, longer around the neck where it forms a showy collar, medium and long on the other parts of the body.
The gorget forms like a fur "jacket" which usually remains thick and fluffy especially in winter.
  • DEFECTS:
Narrow head, ears too large or small, eyes of oriental type, long and slender neck, stocky body, narrow chest, short legs, feet without tufts of hair between the toes, short tail, short coat.
Disqualification defects: presence of white spots in the colorpoint variety, absence of white spots in the mitted variety, dark spots in the two-colored variety, eyes of a color other than blue.
